An opportunity was provided to develop a positive attitude to overcome life challenges and lead to truly fulfilled lives.
2.Care for the Disadvantaged
(1)“Books to Inmates. Send Love to Prisons” Project
AEF continued the fundraising for books-to-inmates project from last year. Donations were accepted for the books-to-inmates project. With each donation equaling the price of Ming Liu’s book Life is Good (published by Rhythms Monthly), a copy was purchased and sent to inmates to support their personal and educational development, to reduce recidivism and to improve the chances of rehabilitation. One thousand books were delivered to Taoyuan Women’s Prison, Taichung Women’s Prison and Kaohsiung Women’s Prison in the first donation period. In the second donation period, another 1,000 books were sent to juvenile inmates aged 12 to 18 in Taoyuan Reform School, Changhua Reform School, Chengjheng High School in Hsinchu and Ming Yang High School in Kaohsiung.
(2)“Delivering Love to Prisons” Project
This project provided a stage for disabled performers to demonstrate their talents and share their inspiring life stories with the inmates. Not only did it boost the performers’ self-esteem and participation in community service, but it also gave the inmates inspiration to overcome life’s challenges. For the first time, AEF cooperated with Cathay Charity Foundation and conducted the project in Taichung Women’s Prison, Taoyuan Women’s Prison, Taipei Detention Center and Miaoli Detention Center.
(3)“Life is Good” Radio Show in Leader Radio Station
Leader Radio Station, established by the Taipei Detention Center, is the first radio station of its kind and will be the model for the establishment of future stations. Ming Liu, CEO of AEF, and Hui-Er Ni, Executive Secretary of AEF, hosted the show “Life is Good” in the station once a month, having a positive influence on the inmates’ improvement in moral education and rehabilitation.
3.Education Project
AEF sponsored the Xiu-Zong Liang Scholarship, a grant dedicated to servicing the needs of students from low income households who were in need of tuition assistance in the Department of Information and Computer Engineering in Chuangyuan Christian University, so that they could complete their degree.

The event was organized by Taiwan Fu-Li Rehabilitation Association for Teenaged Amputees, with a purpose to show people the abilities of the disabled, to help them understand that being disabled does not have to be a disadvantage, to accept people with disabilities, and to encourage government funded support for them. It also aimed to show the disabled how to be useful members of society, and to find methods to transform their disabilities into abilities. The name of the show was chosen to show people that the crescent moon may seem incomplete but it lights up the sky, just as people with disabilities may seem to be disadvantaged, but are just as strong and can shine just as bright. The show was hosted by Ming Liu, CEO of AEF, featuring Disabled Performing Arts Group.
