Zhang Chen began her connection with the ADLINK Foundation through the Zhongxian Scholarship and Life Education performances. She also has extensive experience in service work and as a master of ceremonies during her studies. Volunteer's Reflection—Zhang Chen
Hello everyone! I’m Zhang Chen. As I put pen to paper to write these words, the sights and moments of the past ten-plus days still flow vividly before my eyes, and my heart is filled with indescribable gratitude and reluctance to part. Perhaps this is the last time I address you under this role, but the memories and growth carried through this journey will surely accompany me as I move toward a more distant future.
With the successful conclusion of the children’s summer camp, my heart is full of warmth and emotion. Over these five days, we explored Chengdu together with the children—visiting the panda base, gazing toward Mount Siguniang, and creating countless joyful moments side by side. The moment that touched me the most was the final night, when everyone sat together singing the camp song. The warm voices echoed in the air, and every face was filled with sincerity and reluctance to say goodbye. That beautiful moment was forever frozen in time. When I later watched the event videos, I saw everyone’s focused expressions and the light of emotion and memories shining in their eyes. I knew then that the bonds and gains of these five days had already been deeply imprinted in each of our hearts.
What made this experience most precious was the innocence and joy the children brought to us. They explored the world with curious eyes and touched others with their sincere smiles, teaching us once again how to feel happiness in the simplest way. Whenever I saw their joyful faces and heard their clear laughter, all the fatigue instantly turned into fulfillment and happiness. Their smiles were as pure as sunlight. On the last day, when a little girl held my hand and asked, “Will we go back together tomorrow?”, I suddenly realized that true giving is actually mutual. I thought that as a volunteer I was the one accompanying them, but in reality, it was they who taught me how to experience happiness with the simplest heart.
I would especially like to thank the ADLINK Foundation for providing us with this rare platform for service, allowing us to accompany children as they grow, while also being healed by their innocence. I am grateful to all the teachers for their patient guidance, teaching us how to interact with children and how to organize engaging activities. I also want to thank all the fellow volunteers for their seamless cooperation. It was because of your dedication and support that we were able to create these beautiful memories for the children together.
Although these five days were brief, the warmth and emotion we gained will remain with us for a long time. Thank you to everyone who made this time so special. I look forward to having the opportunity to continue passing on this love and joy in the future.
