Yongyong, the child of an ADLINK colleague, has always excelled in her studies and has been honored with the ADLINK Education Scholarship multiple times. Inspired by the stories shared by volunteers at past award ceremonies, she had long wished to join the summer camp. This year, her wish came true. Here, she shares her heartfelt thoughts and experiences from the Chengdu Children’s Summer Camp.
Volunteer's Insight_Yong-yong
“I thought it would be like any other camp, but the children’s innocent smiles and heartfelt sincerity completely changed me. Their trust, laughter, and transformation filled me with warmth and a new sense of responsibility.”
She recalls the Qiang Village, where children’s headpieces kept falling as they played:
“Instead of frustration, they turned to us for help. Looking into their clear eyes, I felt a deep warmth — their sincerity reminded me that true connection should always be this natural, pure, and warm.”
Through these moments, Yong-Yong found herself growing too:
“The children’s genuine smiles reminded me that I don’t need to hide behind burdens or pretenses. I can face the world with honesty and return to my truest self.”
For her, Chengdu’s summer is a clock of precious memories — of laughter, trust, and growth — that will continue to nurture both children and volunteers in years to come.
